There's seriously no stopping the pop titan that is Taylor Swift. On Thursday, it was announced that her 1989 album has surpassed the five million mark in the United States, according to Nielsen Music.
Swift's feat is huge news because the album becomes the fastest seller to reach this plateau since 2004. 1989 crossed the five million mark in the week ending July 5 when it sold another 26,000 copies. The album is in its 36th week of release. To put things in perspective, this last happened back in 2004 when Usher's Confessions hit the milestone in its 19th week.
It's just another day in the life of Taylor Swift. Congrats!
