Taylor Swift dropped a brand new song, video and announced her upcoming 5th album during her worldwide live stream on Monday. Minutes into the event, Taylor got up and danced with the studio audience to her upbeat new song, "Shake It Off," which she wrote with producers Max Martin and Shellback. She revealed that the song is her way of reacting to all the things people say about her on a regular basis - she just chooses to shake them off!
She then announced that her new album, titled 1989 (named after the year she was born), will drop on October 27th. The album was heavily inspired by late 80's pop - another reason for the title - and represents what she calls a "rebirth." Taylor says it's her favorite album she's ever made.
The live stream's grand finale came when Taylor dropped the brand new video for "Shake It Off," which includes her dancing like nobody is watching in multiple styles alongside professional dancers and fans alike.
