Lorde has some flattering words for rapper Kanye West. In a recent interview the New Zealand teen singer says Kanye recently reached out to tell her he was a fan of her music.
The 17-year-old appreciates his approval, saying that “if the school is pop,” then Kanye is “[her] school principal.” She admits however that she only has one age group in mind when she writes. Lorde says “the only people [she] cares about liking her music” are people her own age.
She also discusses how her being on social media growing up has enlightened the image of herself as a pop star. She recalls making her Facebook page exactly how she wanted at age 13, saying “That’s all the Internet is - doing your own PR.”
