Even though he's been on the scene for a minute, The Weeknd is turning out to be one of the biggest pop stars of the year. After taking the summer by storm with "Can't Feel My Face," the smooth crooner is scheduled to drop his new LP, Beauty Behind the Madness, next week and we have all the details about how one of the album duets materialized.
In a new interview he opened up about how he ended up recording a "spontaneous" collaboration with none other than Ed Sheeran. "He was hosting the Much Music Awards in Toronto and I invited him, and pretty much the entire awards show, to my condo to party," he explained. "It went on until about 5 in the morning but we didn’t write the song until that next day, so you can imagine how that night went."
The Weeknd said that Ed even stepped up to the plate for a "dope" freestyle battle with Waka Flocka Flame in his kitchen. If only those kitchen walls could talk! Even though he didn't specify what track they worked on, we can only assume it's for the Sheeran-assisted "Dark Times," which appears on his LP track list. The Weeknd's Beauty Behind the Madness will also feature collaborations from Labrinth and Lana Del Rey.
