The Wanted may have split up last year, but one member of the group is moving forward with a solo career. Nathan Sykes has revealed in a new interview that he's in the process of recording his own material since the group parted ways early last year.
The 21-year-old singer says he's looking forward to making a "second first impression." Nathan says "It's like a second, first impression and whereas I don’t necessarily think it's important to change people’s perceptions, I do think it’s exciting that people won't just see me as 'the young one in the wanted' and can have to freedom to judge me as an individual and not just 'that bloke from that band!'"
One of the songs is reportedly inspired by Nathan's ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande. He says that their short-lived romance in 2013 is the subject of "the most emotional song" he's written. The young Brit calls Ariana "a lovely girl" and says the track deals with his struggle to not be angry "because sometimes things just don't work out."
