During "Bruce Jenner: The Interview" -- his exclusive sit-down with Diane Sawyer, Bruce confirmed what many have been speculating over the last year: he is indeed transitioning into a woman. He tells Diane, "Yes, for all intents and purposes, I am a woman."
Bruce says this has been a life-long struggle for him, and even at 8 and 9 years old would dress up in his sister's and mother's clothing when no one was around. He says, "I've always been very confused with my gender identity."
Bruce explained the concept to Diane, he says, the way he has explained it to his family. He told a story about God gifting him with a number of amazing qualities, but adding, "Let's give him the soul of a female, and let's see how he deals with that."
