2014 MTV Movie Awards Recap

On Sunday the 2014 MTV Movie Awards went down live from Los Angles. ”The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” took home the most awards. At Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards, the latest entry in the blockbuster series picked up a trio of popcorn trophies for Movie of the Year, Best Female Performance for Jennifer Lawrence, and Best Male Performance for Josh Hutcherson. While accepting the Movie of the Year honor, Hutcherson paid tribute to “Catching Fire” co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The Movie Awards also dedicated a segment to the late Paul Walker with tributes from his fellow “Fast and Furious” stars Jordana Brewster and Vin Diesel. Channing Tatum was honored with the Trailblazer Award, while Mark Wahlberg got the Generation Award, which he renamed the “You’re Too Old to Come Back” award. At the other end of the spectrum, “We’re the Millers” star Will Poulter won the Breakthrough Performance award as well as Best Kiss for locking lips with Jennifer Aniston and Emma Roberts.
Other winners included Jared Leto for Best On-Screen Transformation in “Dallas Buyers Club,” Jonah Hill for Best Comedic Performance in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” and Mila Kunis for Best Villain in “Oz the Great and Powerful.” “The Hobbit’s” Orlando Bloom challenged his fellow nominees while accepting the trophy for Best Fight, and “That Awkward Moment” star Zac Efron dutifully stripped off his shirt after winning Best Shirtless Performance. Conan O’Brien served as host at the ceremony in Los Angeles, which saw big-name performers like Eminem, Rihanna, and Ellie Goulding take the stage as well. Throughout the event viewers were also treated to sneak peeks at a few of next year’s possible Movie Award nominees, including “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”
